In Brief: This post summarizes what the Campaign Steering Committee has been discussion. In particular, we are focused on: following the activities of the workgroup, updating messaging that we can use for public outreach, crafting case studies that can be used to illustrate the issue in the workgroup and in the media, crafting communications strategies to keep human service providers in the loop, and crafting a legislative strategy for this fall.
In Full: At our September 6 meeting, we looked at the list of workgroup participants and discussed how to engage additional subject matter expertise within the Campaign. In addition to the CPAs and attorneys who are working in house for human service agencies, we are pleased to welcome Michaela Kay, a partner at BDO, and Sarah Croskey, from Clifton Larson, to the Committee.
We talked about how to effectively communicate about the working group and other campaign activities and identified several channels. This includes adding this blog section to the Campaign website, sending updates to everyone who has signed on to the Campaign’s letter of support, and collaborating with NAWA to get appropriate communication out through their membership list-serves.
If you have another coalition or list-serve to which you would like to forward updates, please reach out to the campaign through Heather at hfitzpatrick at marketfitz dot com.
We are beginning to work on our legislative advocacy agenda for 2025. Since the workgroup will still be meeting at that point, we will focus our legislative advocacy on education and prioritize meetings this fall, rather than during the session.
Finally, we are beginning to collect case studies that will illustrate the impact of the current contracting processes on the people we serve – and on the sustainability of the agencies. Stay tuned for more information about this important effort!
