Workgroup Participants Selected

September 6, 2024

Note: This post was edited on September 19, 2024, at the request of the Department of Commerce. They noted that the meetings are not public and were concerned that the list of participants also be kept confidential. We have retained the names of the human service leaders who have been appointed to the workgroup, but have eliminated the names of the other participants. Instead, we have noted the agencies represented in the process.

In Brief: The Workgroup tasked with supporting the review of contracting processes in Washington State has been formed.

In Full: The Campaign for 20% proposed a list of potential human service providers to participate in the Workgroup. We were pleased that many were selected, and virtually all of the human service leaders who are participating were proposed by the Campaign.

The Workgroup includes:

  • 3 members of the facilitation team from Atromitos Consulting
  • 3 representatives from the Department of Commerce
  • 1 representative from the Department of Social and Health Services
  • 1 representative from the Washington State Office of Equity
  • 1 representative from Washington Health Care Authority
  • 1 representative from Clark County Human Services
  • 1 councilmember from Pierce County
  • 1 commissioner from Island County
  • 1 representative from King County Department of Community and Human Services
  • Bridget Cannon, SVP of Shelter Services, VOA Spokane
  • Madelyn Carlson, CEO, People for People
  • Dave Richardson, ED, Northeast Community Center
  • Mike Heinisch, ED, Kent Youth & Family Services, retired
  • Michael Yoder, ED, Associated Ministries
  • Brittini Lasseigne, CEO, YWCA Clark County
  • Alison Poulsen, President, Better Health Together
  • David Foreman, CFO, Opportunity Council
  • Heather Fitzpatrick, CEO, Wellspring Family Services, retired
  • Emilio Vela, ED, Communities in Schools of North Central Washington

While we were happy that many of the representatives from city and county governments who we recommended were selected, we were disappointed to see that none of the subject matter experts we proposed were included. This list included CPAs in public accounting who specialize in nonprofit accounting, and attorneys who are known for their expertise in nonprofit law. We are actively reaching out to those individuals to ask them to join the Campaign Steering Committee in order to ensure that we include their voices and expertise in the discussion.
